Shelving

I've been having a lot of conversations, lately, around doing what you love and at the same time, not feeling guilty if you don't "follow through" on goals by a certain deadline. I call that "shelving", meaning you can choose to put that goal on the shelf and if or when you return to it, you have the choice to resume or not. Sometimes, we feel guilty and/ or disappointed in ourselves when we don't have the same 'gusto' about a goal. Whatever that feeling is, if it doesn't feel the same when you've returned to that shelf, that's ok. It is what it is and it doesn't mean you've failed, it simply means you do not feel the same way you did before in the moment. That's it. Nothing more and nothing less. There's too much emphasis on setting goals with looming deadlines, but you know what? You're human and Life happens. I always say that 'Life is not Life without change', and we're constantly evolving. It may not feel like that but if your feelings change about something that's on the shelf, that is evolution in itself. Give yourself grace, do what you love, do it on your own time and on your own terms. Whatever your goals are, enjoy the journey and the evolution within. Feel and be free.
